Matt is just back from his annual guys' "camping trip" (think VRBO w/ hot tub and pool table five minutes from a casino) and the kids begged and pleaded to sleep in a tent tonight. Matt - in a fit of nostalgia for actual camping - was persuaded to set them up in the basement. Pretty sure this won't end well. Yesterday, my badass sister @altspartan left her kids with me while she ran the Fort Bragg Spartan race. She thought I was doing her a favor, but the opposite was true. While she hammered out 5.5 rugged miles interspersed with two dozen obstacles, her children kept mine so well entertained that I was able to mow the grass, catch up on Etsy orders and knock out this project I've had on my to-do list for a year. This table was a Charlotte eBay find before Craigslist was a thing. It's been with us in six breakfast nooks (soon to be seven) and has survived multiple rounds of DIY painting - first whitewashing, then yellow, light gray and now charcoal - and outlasted two sets of chairs.
